Rick Brace
President, Revenue, Business Planning and Sports, CTV Inc.
Brace was appointed President, Revenue, Business Planning and Sports in October 2007, and is responsible for the company’s partnerships both in the advertising sector and with the broadcasting distribution undertakings (BDUs), including overseeing all aspects of revenue for the television division. He oversees the company’s conventional, specialty and sports sales, revenue management and research as well as CTV’s interactive business. Brace also presides over the company’s sports programming and sports business ventures, including overseeing the sports channel group, consisting of TSN, RDS, ESPN Classic and NHL Network, and the company’s joint venture Olympic strategy for the Games in Vancouver 2010 and London 2012.
From 2002 to 2007, Brace served as President, CTV Inc., where he oversaw CTV’s specialty and conventional television stations, all music publishing and production houses and all television sales efforts. Previously he was President, CTV Specialty Television Inc. (then NetStar Communications Inc.) and also served as President, CTV Specialty Sports and from May 2000, Senior Vice President, CTV Sports and OLN. In this capacity, he was responsible for the programming, production, acquisition, sales, marketing and affiliate relations of CTV’s sports programming and its sports-related specialty channels.
Previously, Brace was President of TSN, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the all-sports network where his experience, insight and leadership helped TSN emerge as Canada’s most-watched specialty service. He joined TSN in 1986 as a producer. From there, he moved to Director of Programming (1989), VP, Programming (1990) and Executive Vice President and General Manager (1997) where he coordinated the network’s acquisition of major properties including World Cup of Soccer, the NHL and the Olympics. He began his broadcasting career in 1975 as a technician with CBC and was part of the network’s 1976 Summer Olympics broadcast team before joining CBC sports in 1980 where he produced and directed "Sportsweekend", a weekly anthology program, CFL games, Formula One races and the 1984 Summer and Winter Olympics.
Brace graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in radio and television arts.
